Safety and quality

All our products are tested in the factory. To work safely, it is important to follow some basic rules when storing, mounting and using abrasives.

Storage

  • Store wheels in a dry place at room temperature.
  • Large-diameter wheels should be stored upright on wooden shelves, smaller-diameter wheels flat.

Before mounting

  • Check the wheel for damage visually and with a ring test.
  • Do not use products that are damaged, past their expiry date, or have been subjected to impacts or abnormal stresses.
  • After mounting, run the machine with no load for a few minutes.

During operation

  • Use the personal protective equipment required by health and safety regulations for the work being carried out.
  • With portable grinders, hold the grinding disc at an angle of at least 35° to the surface.
  • Never use cutting discs for grinding.
  • Do not use poorly maintained machines or machines with excessive play on the spindle and flanges.
  • Make sure the disc is suitable for the material, observe the expiry date and check that the machine speed does not exceed the maximum rpm marked on the wheel.

How to read the label

The label on every Kondor disc shows the maximum operating peripheral speed (for example 50, 63, 80 or 100 m/s) and the safety pictograms:

  • Not to be used for grinding (on cutting discs).
  • Wear hearing protection, safety glasses and gloves.
  • Wear a dust mask.
  • Do not use damaged discs.

Never exceed the speed shown on the label or the maximum rpm marked on the disc.
